The town is packed full of independent local restaurants, bars and shops and has a number of popular historical tourist attractions, the town was the inspiration and setting for Elizabeth Gaskell’s Cranford and visitors can recreate the Victorian experience by joining a guided walk from Knutsford Heritage Centre to reveal the ‘real’ Cranford.

Knutsford ‘Royal’ May Day is the highlight of the town’s calendar and takes place every year on the first Saturday in May.
Craft & Produce Marquee can be found on the heath behind the May Queen’s throne.

On sale are wares such as Children’s Clothing, Wooden Plaques, Cards, Flowers, Cup Cakes, Glitter Glasses, Scarves, Jewellery, Hand Carved Wood objects……….

The Children's parade which starts at 2pm and snakes its way around the town until it reaches the Heath, horse drawn floats, Morris dancing, Brass bands and beautiful shire horses.

Also on the heath is John Collins Fun Fair (over 200 fair rides and attractions), Refreshments, donkey rides, Ice Cream, Lots of children's activities. The May Queen is crowned and traditional May Day Dancing takes place in front of the Marquee.
