The Ventnor Fringe is a unique celebration of the arts
Originally created by a team of local teenagers in 2010 the festival has grown into a multi award winning event, based on the principles of the Edinburgh Fringe that inspired it but carving a distinct identity of its own.
Take the pilgrimage and enjoy a midnight ‘lock in‘ at the Library, ‘pop up’ cinemas, basement bars, pianos in the streets, gigs in locals' houses, mystery tours, woodland sing-alongs and intimate church shows in and around the eclectic hillside town of Ventnor, on the southern tip of the beautiful Isle of Wight.
“… A wonderland of pop-up bars and secret venues housing an eclectic, boutique multi-arts festival. It’s one of the most innovative and vibrant new fringe festivals in the country…”
Jame Greive, Co Artistic Director, Paines Plough
Ventnor Fringe 8th - 13th august 2017
Variety is the spice of life!
The Fringe offers an opportunity to try something new, so don't miss your chance and take a risk! Spanning many different arts forms and tastes, some of the most surprising hits at the Festival have been some of the most peculiar.
Leave yourself some free time
It's often a good idea to book some tickets in advance as popular shows and gigs can sell out quickly, but be sure to allow some free time to explore the town and the many strange happenings taking place. Allowing for some spontaneity is important!
On a budget?
One of the best things about a Fringe Festival is you can choose to spend as little or as much as you want. Most events are between £5 - £12 and you can access the two main Festival bars with a Fringe Wristband which costs just £2. Both of these spaces will have entertainment running every day and evening.
If you're planning to see lots of events it might be worth joining the Fringe as a member. It costs £20 a year and provides many '2 for 1' ticket deals on shows across the Festival.
If your looking for an affordable place to stay it might be worth staying at the Festival Campsite. Prices for standard passes are just £10pppn.
