7 Spot Pottery is Pascal Nichols’ ceramic studio, on the fourth floor. It is open to artists of all abilities, in the form of taught courses, workshops, and residencies. Pascal is a qualified teacher with 7 years of experience working with learners of all levels and abilities.
Pascal makes ceramic sculpture and functional pottery, informed by an interest in indigenous and outsider ceramics, favouring rudimentary hand-building techniques to intuitively build ceramic objects, varying from ornately decorated figures to roughly manipulated forms.
We offer private classes for individuals and or small groups.
The theme/content can be agreed beforehand, and these sessions are suitable for all abilities including complete beginners.
Your pieces will be glaze fired and ready to collect after 4 weeks. This is included in the price of the session.
We can also organise pottery events for larger parties such as hen/stag parties, birthdays etc. Please contact us to discuss rates/information.
Rates below for a 2 hour session:
1 to 1: £85
2 people: £55 per person
3-6 people: £45 per person
7+ people: £40 per person
Slab-built planter: Learn how to to make a cylinder-shaped pot and decorate it with a relief design. Your planter will be fired and white-glazed after the session.
Slip-decorated plate: Learn how make a slab-plate and decorate it by using coloured slips over a paper stencil design.
Potters wheel (throwing) taster session: Learn how to make a pot on the potters wheel. you will be guided through the technique of wheel-thrown pottery and you can pick your best pot to be white-glazed and fired.
7 Spot Pottery opened it’s doors within Islington Mill Artists Studios in February 2017 and has been steadily growing ever since. We are open 7 days a week for members, with 24 hour key holder access to the building, and run multiple classes per week including 1:1 and small group tuition. We’ve even had hen parties of 10+ people!
We currently have 7 members from a range of backgrounds including jewellers, illustrators and sculptors all who wish to add ceramics into their practice.
Our studio is also open for beginners, intermediates and advanced learners in both hand-building and throwing. You can find information about what courses we run on our website!
We currently have 4 pottery wheels, a slab roller, 2 top loading kilns and a wide range of glazes, stains and oxides for members to use.
